Introduction to Neuromuscular Cupping Therapy – 18 hours

Gretchen Popp has been teaching Neuromuscular Cupping Therapy since 2020, delivering it as an online Specialized Certification for those who wish to advance their knowledge and skill set, no matter where they are in the world, or what time constraints they have in their lives. Now, an introduction to this style of Cupping Therapy is being offered for students within the Advanced program at BMTI, so they can benefit from the theories and applications of this work, while also having the advantage of in-person education. This Introduction to Neuromuscular Cupping Therapy Course will provide the foundational knowledge to practice Cupping Therapy safely, and apply it knowledgeably for many different pain patterns. Combining several modalities such as Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Muscle Activation Techniques, Trigger Point Therapy, and Thai Massage, this work will allow each student to combine their favorite modalities and techniques with the powers of Cupping Therapy! During these six weeks, we will focus on proper disinfection, safety and contraindications, the theory behind this style of Cupping Therapy and the modern pain science which backs it up, and effective applications for the most common pain patterns our clients tend to present with. Students attending this training will leave not only being more confident with Cupping Therapy, but also more knowledgeable in how to interact with specific pain patterns, even if they are not using cups to resolve them.

Thai Massage: Art & Principles – 21 hours

Thai Massage, also known as Thai Bodywork, is an ancient healing art, said to have originated before the time of the Buddha. Often called the "lazy man's yoga", the receiver is passive and the practitioner stretches and compresses their body with assisted stretches, gentle twisting, rocking, tractioning, and energy work through the breath. When offering Thai Massage, we draw from thousands of years of healing, and incorporate elements of acupressure, massage, and deep muscle work through bodyweight mechanics. This helps the receiver to relax into the parasympathetic nervous system to naturally release blocked energy held in the body. This is a holistic practice which is designed to bring the body, mind, and spirit back to balance, and to ignite the body's natural abilities to heal. It is an excellent compliment to both active lifestyles, and to lifestyles where one does not get enough movement.
